International Literacy Day

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) declared September 9th as International Literacy Day. It aims to raise people’s awareness and concern for literacy issues around the world. The UN’s Sustainable Development Goals promote universal access to quality education and learning opportunities. Specifically, Sustainable Development Goal 4 aims to ensure all young people achieve literacy and numeracy and that adults who lack these skills are given the opportunity to acquire them.
