Increasing access to healthcare for Kenyans

Access to healthcare is a human right and a means to achieving other development goals. The poorest and most vulnerable people continue to bear the greatest burden of poor health. Access to basic needs such as clean water and modern sanitation remains a challenge to the poor, putting them at risk of disease. Other challenges include maternal health, HIV and lifestyle-related deaths. Co-operative Bank Foundation aims at making a positive difference to the health of poor and vulnerable people by improving access to healthcare and reducing inequalities to spur economic growth.

One of our key interventions has been collaborating with the office of Her Excellency the First Lady under the Beyond Zero campaign to provide mobile trucks to improve access to maternal services among communities living in remote areas.

Goal:
Sustained improvement of health and well-being for all Kenyans by increasing access to affordable, high quality health care services, clean water and sanitation.
Objectives
  • Increase access to better health services for the poor especially in rural areas by championing the strengthening of sectors where health needs or gaps are high such as a Nurse Resource Center in Kenya
  • Increase access to water supply and sanitation to promote better hygiene and fight preventable disease, especially to vulnerable communities

Growth in agriculture… is there anything cool for the youth?
