Increasing access to quality education

We believe that education is not only an equalizer but also a tool to address poverty. We enhance access to quality education by targeting children from disadvantaged family backgrounds and providing scholarships that cover tuition, uniform and books. As an investment towards developing the country’s human resource, we mentor and equip our scholarship beneficiaries to become productive members of society and ambassadors of the Co-operative movement.

Goal:
To enhance the education flagship program of Co-op Bank Foundation by growing its potential to become self-sustaining as well as further developing the beneficiaries to be good citizens and future ambassadors of the co-operative movement.
Objectives
  • To promote a range of fundraising activities that reduce the overall bank’s contribution to the education scholarship program through strategic partnerships to ensure sustainability while maintaining a contribution ratio of 8:2
  • Provide scholarships to increasingly more bright students from low income households so as to enable them access secondary and university education.
  • Provide scholarships to technical & vocational skills and training (TVET) to secondary school students who cannot proceed with university education.
  • To develop an approach to apprenticeships and work experience linked to increasing employment opportunities for young alumni of the education program.
  • To develop good citizenship by ensuring all students undertake training in ethics, stewardship and skills in critical thinking
  • To develop youth learning programs that develop character, creativity and entrepreneurship through school youth business programs that include incubation.

Provide guidance/counseling and mentorship for secondary school and university students.
